How I build products without writing code
I’ve never written production code. I’ve still shipped a videogame, gov-tech software, and tools for other builders. Here’s the actual process.
It starts with the product, not the code
I don’t think in frameworks or functions. I think in the finished thing: what it should feel like, where it should be effortless, what it’s missing. I can see the product before it exists, and that vision is the whole foundation. Everything else is getting what’s in my head out into the world.
My job is translation
I turn that vision into language precise enough for AI to build from. I describe the screen, the behavior, the edge cases, exactly, and the AI writes the code. If I can say it clearly, it can build it. The clearer I am, the closer the result.
I work in tight loops
Describe, build, look, correct. Then again. I don’t need to understand the code underneath; I need to notice the moment something’s wrong and say what right looks like. Most of building, for me, is fast rounds of judgment.
Taste is the part that’s mine
AI can build almost anything. What it can’t do is decide what’s worth building, or feel when something is off. Direction, judgment, taste, those don’t come from the model. They come from me. That’s the real job, and it’s the part that doesn’t get automated.
Anyone can do this now
The barrier used to be knowing how. Now the barrier is knowing what, and being willing to start. If you can picture it clearly and describe it honestly, you can build it. Come see what I’ve built, or start with Launchpad.
